Almost every quote request we receive starts with the same question: what should this cost? The honest answer is that two identical 8x6ft sheds on the same street can price very differently. 1. Size and structure type
Footprint is the starting point. A small 6x4ft timber shed is typically a two-person, two-hour job with one van load of waste. A 12x10ft workshop with a mezzanine, power run and heavy felt roof can be a full day with multiple loads.
Material matters as much as size. Timber breaks down fast and stacks efficiently. Metal sheds are lighter but awkward, with sharp edges that need careful handling. Concrete sectional garages are the heaviest category: panels can weigh 40–70kg each and need two people per panel plus a plan for getting them out.

2. Access is the biggest hidden cost
The distance between the shed and where the vehicle can legally park changes the labour time more than anything else. A shed beside a driveway is a straight carry. The same shed at the end of a 40-metre garden, through a narrow side gate, with a step down onto a patio, can double the man-hours.
When you request a quote, mention: how far the shed is from the road, whether there is side access or only through-the-house access, and whether there are steps, slopes or narrow gates. Being upfront here is what keeps a quote fixed rather than revised on the day.
3. The base underneath
Removing the shed and leaving the base is the cheapest option. Breaking out a concrete slab is a separate task involving breakers, significantly more waste weight, and often a heavier disposal charge because hardcore is priced by tonne rather than volume.
Timber bearers and paving slabs sit in between — quick to lift, moderate to dispose of. Decide before you get quoted whether you want a clear, ready-to-turf surface or simply the structure gone.
4. Contents and clearance
Most sheds are not empty. Paint tins, old fuel, tyres, fridges, mattresses and garden chemicals all carry separate disposal rules and costs. Clearing an average full shed adds a load's worth of waste and around an hour of sorting.
Anything you can remove or recycle yourself before we arrive comes straight off the price. Anything hazardous — most commonly asbestos cement roof sheeting on older sheds and garages — must be handled by a licensed contractor and is always quoted separately.
5. Disposal and recycling
Disposal is a real, itemised cost, not a rounding error. Licensed transfer stations charge by weight and waste type. Reputable operators pay those gate fees and carry a waste carrier registration; the cheapest quotes in any area are frequently the ones fly-tipping the load, which leaves the legal liability with you as the waste producer.

Weekend slots are available and priced the same in most areas. Availability is tighter, so book earlier — we ask for at least five days' notice on all bookings.
